Twizera Varanta  (M)

Born: 03/07/2007

Age:     17 Years

Nationality: Congolese

Place of Residence :

Nakivale Refugee Camp

KHS

Background:

Varanta's mother narrates that her husband went missing in 2012 during the DR Congo insurgence in Bukavu province of North Kivu. After a few weeks his decomposing beheaded body was discovered a few meters away from their home. It is from that moment that this vulnerable woman opted to flee with her other children to Nakivale settlement camp where they are still residing.

Varanta lives with his other 7 siblings and 3 other nieces all in the same house.

All being under the care of one vulnerable woman and means of survival are very complicated, obtaining food on a daily basis is very hard and challenging.

The mother has no option other than doing casual work in gardens, in order to get a daily meal, the family has no land on which they can cultivate and get food.

Varanta studied and completed his primary from NAKIVALE HOPE PRIMARY and passed highly with aggregate 12 (GRADE ONE)

Varanta has always heard about a wonderful secondary school in south western Uganda called Kabuga HOPE Vocational Secondary School and it's his wish and desire to study from there and his dream is to become a pilot. Thanks to an Australia donation, he has been able to join KHVSS but needs sponsorship for continuing his secondary education beyond term 1.

You can sponsor Varanta for $60 per month.

ABOUT YOUR NEW SPONSORSHIP

To sponsor a child or class, complete the form above with your contact details, naming the child or class, and their number.

We will be in touch by email and forward a form for filling in your payment details and other information. You can scan, fill in and email back to our office, or take a photo on your phone and send to us.

Soon, you will receive an introductory letter from your selected child or class / teacher from Africa, and a beautiful profile card of your child/class.

African children love receiving letters from you, as well as a photo of your family. These can be scanned and emailed to our office for forwarding to our partner in Africa who will print and deliver your letter.

Sponsored children can be visited in country depending on their local environment at the time, your visa, or permit to enter a refugee settlement and arrangements with our African project partner.

Please note: every African child wants to be a doctor or a lawyer, a pilot or an engineer! Your sponsorship may not get them that far, however, they will have a brighter future, whether they complete secondary, tertiary or a vocational course.

It is good to be aware that sometimes children leave the region and are lost from our program, others are forbidden to continue study, some are forced into early marriage and occasionally some die. We hope that your sponsoring experience will be a long and rewarding one.

Enquiries? Please call in to Jambo Sana, 72 Main Rd, Nairne, or phone our office Wednesday to Friday 0881880398 or email hope@ahi.org.au
